Welcome to the FINGER LAKES FRESHET! freshet /freSHet/ noun - the springtime rush of fresh water from melting snow. (In 2027, routes will be in the reverse direction as previous years) Event Overview Type: Casual, unofficial, unsanctioned, and unsupported gravel bikepacking ride. Location: Starting and ending in Stewart Park, Ithaca, NY. Challenge: Fun yet demanding: less than half of riders completed in the first two years. Ideal Bike: A burly gravel bike or a svelte mountain bike with 38-60 mm knobby tires. Ride Details Routing: Self-supported with no sag wagon or planned feed stations: utilize publicly available services. Community: Expect to encounter friends and family at the finish line. Pace: Riders can go fast but are also encouraged to ride together in groups. Group Camping: Available around mile 70 and 90 of the longest two routes. Tracking Options Real-Time Monitoring: Routes available on Trackleaders with optional SPOT rental ($85) or PING phone app ($15). Official Timing: Required for those wishing to record times or set a Fastest Known Time (FKT). Event Replay: Archived event replay available on Trackleaders webpage. Original Time Recording: Necessary for fair and accurate results. Logistics Date Change: Event shifted to later in May from the first weekend in early May.
