Event Overview This is the 17th year of Going the Distance! This annual bike ride raises much-needed funds to support the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro. Pavement Rides Distances: 40, 60, or 75 miles. Rest Areas: Supported by rest areas in Turners Falls and Greenfield as well as a support vehicle. Route: Travels down Route 142 through Vernon, entering Massachusetts, continuing on beautiful country roads. Lunch Stop: Lunch provided at the second rest stop along the Green River in Greenfield, MA. The final leg of the ride brings you back to the Club, where a celebration awaits at our NEYT After Party! Gravel Routes Available Options: 26.8 mile and 38.7 mile Gravel and Gravel Plus routes. Scenery: Rides through Dummerston and Putney on quiet New England back roads. Starting Point: Both rides start and end at the Rt. 30 covered bridge. Equipment Recommendation: We recommend 35mm tires or larger for the Gravel Plus ride. Challenge Level 38.7 Mile Gravel Plus: Nearly 5,000 ft. of climbing over varied terrain, suitable for strong riders. 26.8 Mile Gravel: Shorter and less climbing, with no technical roads. Elevation Gain: 2,975 ft. of elevation on the Gravel ride includes satisfying climbs. Ride Experience: Expect beautiful, tree-lined back roads and fun descents. E-Bikes and Support E-Bikes Welcome: Bring your motor: we’re not snobs! Support Vehicles: Available throughout the ride with a rest stop at Putney School.
