About the Ride Take a Ride on the Wild Side is an annual non-competitive bike ride that loops around Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge in Kirwin, KS. The ride begins at the community building in the town of Kirwin. There are three well-planned routes to choose from: Family-Friendly Loop: 6-mile loop suitable for beginners Intermediate Loop: 14-mile loop for moderate riders Experienced Loop: 31-mile route around the reservoir Sights on both rides will include wildlife, birds, trees, prairie, wildflowers, and the reservoir. The terrain consists of chalk roads, dirt roads and 4 miles of highway (on the longer route) and includes hills and winding roads.
