Event Overview The Tour of the Rio Grande Bicycle Century will not be an organized mass event in 2026. Local Conditions Familiar Area: For locals who are familiar with the South Valley area near the start / finish, there's been a lot of road work and construction. Permitting Concerns: We have been talking with Bernalillo County and NMDOT for the past couple months in regards to the ride / permitting. Road Safety: They say with what is planned for Rio Bravo Blvd and its intersection with 2nd street, they cannot guarantee they will approve our permitting. Event Decision: It is with this information I have chosen to make the event virtual. Virtual Event Details No Specific Date: A virtual event is one that doesn't have a particular ride date, start time or support outside of ridewithgps directions found on our website www.torgbc.com. Public Calendar: This is being done so that the event holds its 4th / last Sunday of September spot on public calendars. Local Business Support: There are a number of local businesses on the way that have food and beverage and they would love your support. Parking Options: It also gives fans of the ride the option to use ridewithgps to find a place to park away from the construction. Event Logistics Start/Finish Decision: We did think about moving the start / finish to make the ride happen and we came to the conclusion to not change the ride in fear of ruining the experience.
